“For the meaning of life differs from man to man, from day to day and from hour to hour. What matters, therefore, is not the meaning of life in general but rather the specific meaning of a person’s life at the given moment.”
Viktor E. Frankel,
“Man’s Search for Meaning”
Are you living a meaningful life and is it the life you envisioned for yourself “at this given moment” or do you feel stuck and are too afraid to step out of your comfort zone?
You might feel lost and alone and, at times, overwhelmed by the number of choices there are in life. Some days it may feel like everyone else knows what they want with a clear path on how to achieve their goals.
You may feel disconnected from your spouse or family. Perhaps you have been so focused on others that you have been neglecting yourself and have not been able to nourish your interpersonal relationships and the relationships you have within your family.
You recognize that you are not completely happy and wonder if it is possible to truly change yourself and the circumstances of your life. It is easy to walk down the same path over and over again. It takes courage to decide to take a step off that path and journey down an unknown road. Making changes in your life can be a difficult and daunting process but the rewards are immeasurable.
I believe that there is a lot power in simply talking openly and honestly with another individual whom you trust and you know will hold your confidence. Through the process of “talking things out” you may see many of your problems and possible solutions. The difference between talking with your friends and family and talking with a therapist is that the therapist, through questioning and repeating your statements, can present your ideas in a way that enables you to see the problems and possible solutions more quickly.
I would like to help you explore your current thoughts, beliefs and the decisions that have kept you from making the changes in your life that you desire. Together we will examine your beliefs by looking at their origins and we will begin to reshape how you see yourself and your world. The ultimate goal in therapy is to develop new skills and behaviors that will bring you a more satisfying life.
I have worked with individuals, adolescents, couples and families from different ethnicities and backgrounds on issues, including life grief and loss, depression, anxiety, trauma, and PTSD. I specialize in Life Transitions, Family Therapy and Addiction and Recovery.
